Myths That Are True

I heard the CEO of talking about the “afordabiity myth” the other day. He went on and on about how he was working hard to explain his company’s product value. I found a note from him on their web site

…was frustrated by the persistent misperceptions about our value. He was urging the company to be more aggressive in responding to the mythical claims..

Here is a claim that isn’t mythical: a double espresso (yes, there is no X in espresso) 2 years ago was 1.94$ and now it is 2.28$ that is an 18% increase.

When I make espresso at home, even if I average out the cost of my machine over 2 years, account for coffee, including shipping, ad in a little for water, I am only at about 80 cents.

So it’s 2.85 times more expensive to get it at Starbucks…. The two eggs I get at a diner for $3.95 I can buy and make myself for probably $0.20, so that’s 19.75 times more expensive.
